For the ribbon-style LostMyLovey ID tag, you’ll need to sew the ribbon firmly to your child’s blanket. Please follow the instructions below.

- Fold short edges of ribbon under approximately 3/4” to 1” towards the underside of the ribbon, and iron the folded edge flat using a medium iron. Using a pressing cloth will ensure that you avoid burning the ribbon.

- Fold the edges under again and press. You may want to fold the ribbon a third time, depending on the width of your folds. Ideally only the embroidered portion should remain visible, though it is up to you how much excess edge is left showing.

- Now the ribbon has a double folded edge on the underside.

- Pin the folded ribbon to the location on the blanket where you would like to sew it. Normally this would be on the underside, perhaps near the manufacturer’s label. Machine- or hand-stitch the edges all the way around the ribbon in a rectangle. Machine-sewing is preferred as it is the most durable and is more likely to survive washing.

SAFETY NOTE: PLEASE BE SURE TO COMPLETELY SEW ALL EDGES OF THE RIBBON DOWN TO THE BLANKET, SEWING ALL THE WAY AROUND IN A RECTANGLE.
IF THE RIBBON IS ONLY SEWN ON AT ONE EDGE, OR ONLY AT THE SHORT EDGES, IT MAY COME LOOSE AND POSE A CHOKING HAZARD TO YOUR CHILD. LOOSE RIBBONS ARE A CHOKING HAZARD. The purchaser is responsible for safely sewing this ribbon on the lovey or blanket and and maintaining the ribbon’s attachment.
IF THE RIBBON COMES LOOSE FROM THE BLANKET, TAKE IT AWAY FROM YOUR CHILD UNTIL THE RIBBON CAN BE COMPLETELY REMOVED OR RE-SEWN AROUND ALL EDGES AGAIN.

If you are uncertain of your sewing skills, most dry cleaners have a tailor or seamstress on staff who would be happy to assist you with sewing the ribbon on your blanket inexpensively.
